WHAT TO AVOID
• Avoid friction from clothing, playing with the jewellery and over cleaning.
• Avoid all oral contact, rough play and contact with other bodily fluids.
• Avoid spray tans, sunbeds, swimming and bathing until fully healed. Showers are ideal.
• Avoid any body or beauty products on or around the piercing. This includes make-up, body spray etc.
• Remove the cover after 3 hours
• Wash hands thoroughly before touching the anchor
• Clean the dermal anchor area with anti-bacterial/fragrance free soap and rinse with clean water
• Apply a small amount of Bepanthen to the area and massage into the area
• You may cover the anchor again if necessary
• Massage directly over the dermal anchor for a few minutes, this promotes healing and helps to ensure that the plate under the skin settles correctly
Repeat this procedure twice a day
What is Normal?
Initially – Some bleeding, localised swelling, tenderness and/or bruising.
During – Itching and secretion of a white or yellow fluid (not pus). This may form a crust on your jewellery.
An anchor may seem healed before it actually is. This is because they tend to heal from the outside in and therefore the inner tissue can still be fragile. Be patient and continue aftercare throughout the entire healing period.
Due to the nature of insertion, dermal anchors can take anywhere from 4 weeks to a couple of months to heal properly. If in doubt, please contact the studio.
