Tattoo pigments are permanent because the particles are too big to be removed by the body’s natural processes. The laser treatment causes these particles to heat up and fragment into smaller pieces. The broken down ink is then absorbed by the body.
Unlike lasers previously used for tattoo removal, the newer lasers rarely result in scarring. Some change in skin pigmentation is normal and is usually temporary.
Complete tattoo removal requires multiple sessions, spaced 6 weeks apart. The number of sessions varies with each tattoo and individual. This is affected by the person’s immune system, the amount of ink in the tattoo, the position of the tattoo and the depth of the tattoo.
Immediately after treatment you may experience some swelling, white discolouration of the skin and slight bleeding.
After 24 hours a crust will form over the treated areas, which flakes off at around 14 days post treatment.
Full aftercare will be given at the time of your appointment.
Before a full removal session you will be required to take a patch test. This is to gauge your body’s reaction and healing time. There will be a £20 charge for the patch test which is refundable against your first full removal session.
If you are high risk due to medical conditions, we may require a letter from your GP to carry out removal.
The cost of each session depends on the size and colour of the tattoo. Prices start from £30 per session. Please note, we charge for removal over the whole/half tattoo each session, not by square inch. This is more cost and time effective for you and generally reduces the number of sessions required.
Each session can take anywhere between 5 and 45 minutes depending on the size of the tattoo.
Please feel free to contact the studio for more information or to book a test patch.
